Pamela Moran and Ira David Socol present a compelling argument in favor of teaching 9/11 in school, and in so doing make a convincing case for helping students consider multiple perspectives (one of the six facets of understanding) and engaging in inquiry.

My CT taught 9/11. Her students read some short stories and formulated complex sentences based upon photographs from 9/11. She took the time to explain the significance of the day and told the students where she was that morning when the towers fell. I thought that it was a wonderful subject for the classroom.
